Justin Tuck chimes in on LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy really seems to have gotten under the New York Giants defensive players this off season.

After calling Osi Umenyiora soft and over rated, Umenyiora struck back at McCoy, saying it’ll be settled on the field.

LeSean McCoy has provided bulletin board material for an angry Giants defense

Sheil Kapadia of Philly.com, who does a great job staying on top of all happenings with the Eagles, has a story posted today in which Justin Tuck takes his turn coming at McCoy and defending Umenyiora.

Heres what Tuck had to say to Mike and Mike in the morning about the back and forth.

“Yes, we will take that personally. He might want to watch some film before he starts talking about a defensive end of Osi’s quality. I don’t know where he would say something of that nature because obviously I think Osi’s stats back up the fact that he’s a pretty good NFL football player.”

“I don’t know what’s gotten into these young guys. It is what is is. I think Osi handled it the right way, and we’ll handle it on the football field when we get the opportunity.”

Who’s ready for some football?

Eagles nominated for ESPY award

A few days after Michael Vick took home the award for “Best Male Athlete” at the BET Awards, the whole Eagles team is close to winning an award themselves.

No, not the Lombardi Trophey.

The Eagles were nominated for “Best Game” for their 28 point miracle come back against the New York Giants, which was capped off with DeSean Jacksons miracle punt return.

The Eagles should have a pretty good chance of bringing home the hardware, as the others games nominated were hardly special. Auburn over Alabama in the Iron Bowl, Butler over Pittsburgh in the NCAA tournament, and Oklahoma City over Memphis in triple over time are the other games nominated for the award.

While everyone will always point to Michael Vick’s amazing performance against the Washington Redskins as his best game of the year, it was this game that solidified him as MVP candidate and showed how he can single handedly win the game. Here was his line:  21/35, 242 yds passing, 3 TD, 10 carries, 130 yds rushing, 1 TD.

After re-watching the high lights, it is amazing to think how many things had to go right for the Eagles to win this one. LeSean McCoy’s pick up of the blitz on Vick’s touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin. Riley Cooper catching David Akers perfect onside kick (yet another reason resigning Akers is a smart move.) Trevor Laws coming up with the biggest play of his career with the sack of Eli Manning with less then a minute to play.

For those itching for some football, here are some high lights from the game.

Umenyiora elaborates on McCoy: “I hate him”

After calling LeSean McCoy “Lady Gaga” earlier today,  McCoy might have thought he got the worst from Osi Umenyiora. But the full version of what Umenyiora had to say about McCoy is now available, and he went into greater detail about the hatred between the two.

Osi says there is no going back from what McCoy did

“Yeah, me and him, we had words on the field- both times we played.  I hate him, he hates me, period,” said Umenyiora to Mike Garafolo of NJ.com. “He chose to take it off the field and make it public when it’s something that’s between me and him. It’s something we can address on the football field. He let the whole world know about it, so I’m going to respond.”

When asked about what kind of exchanges he and McCoy have had on the field, Umenyiora eleborated.

“He said all kinds of stuff. He called me an ‘African (blank).  It was bad,” explained Umenyiora. “It was pretty intense between me and him. I said a couple of things to him, I don’t remember exactly what I said, but it was rough.”

Forgetting the fact that he conveniently forgot what he has said to McCoy, it seems hypocritical to say that this kind of stuff belongs on the field, then say that McCoy basically said some kind of a racial slur  to Umenyiora. It seems he is now taking it farther then McCoy ever did.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out on the field. A few years ago, Jon Runyan would have taken care of this for McCoy, but their are no real enforcers on the Eagles offensive line now- besides maybe Todd Herremans- or really on the whole offense.

With Umenyioras future in New York up in the air, the defensive tackle said this will be taken care of- no matter where he is.

“I’ll see him somewhere,” promised Umenyiora. “Things are going to get heated.”

Umenyiora calls McCoy “Lady Gaga”

Given the hostile history between the Giants and Eagles over the year, it was only a matter of time before Osi Umenyiora responded to LeSean McCoy’s tweet calling Umenyiora the “3rd best D-Line on team” and “soft.”

Umenyiroa and the entire Giants defensive has there own nick name for LeSean McCoy

When asked by Mark Viera of the New York Times about the comments, Umenyiora struck back.

“She can can whatever she wants” said Umenyiora.

Umenyiora also said that the entire New York Giants defense calls McCoy “Lady Gaga” and “Chihuahua”.

Given that the Eagles beat the Giants twice last season, and McCoy played a major role in securing the first one, it is understandable why the Giants would dislike McCoy.

What this all really means is that the Eagles-Giants fans are in for a treat when the two teams finally meet up this season.

That is, of course, if Umenyiora is still has a job with the Giants.

LeSean McCoy calls out Osi Umenyiora

LeSean McCoy, a day after Andy Reid said that he proved he can be the full time back in an offense, took to twitter to let his feelings be known about a certain New York Giant.

LeSean McCoy apparently does not think highly of Osi Umenyiora

Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted a report that Osi Umenyiora, defensive end for the New York Giants, was in court saying that the Giants broke their promise with him.

McCoy did not seem to interested in Umenyiora’s legal troubles, and instead decided to let his feelings be known about the former Pro-Bowl player.

“Overrated n soft 3rd best d-line on his team honestly” tweeted McCoy (@CutonDime25).

These days there’s really not that much difference from calling a player out on twitter or in an interview, so you can believe that Umenyiora will be hearing about McCoys comments. It won’t matter to Umenyiora that McCoy was indeed correct in his assessment.

It’s good to see the young Eagles not be afraid of another team, or the stars on it. McCoy is a leader amongst the running backs, and his leadership role will only grow this year with friend Dion Lewis joining the back field.

Let’s see if McCoy can back up his talk about Umenyiora- like he did last year with his game winning touchdown.
