Yesterday, it was reported that Reggie Bush may be on the wish list of Eagles GM Howie Roseman, who has said he is ready to go when the off season finally starts.
But if Roseman is going to talk to Bush and his agent for the first time when the lock out is over, he may already be behind the eight ball.
Reports from Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports say that Reggie Bush was given permission from the Saints in February to talk to other teams. Cole says the potential suitors include the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, and yes, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The way the report is written, however, it may be that the interest is one sided. Cole says that Bush has “reservations” about playing behind LeSean McCoy, who was on the field for 72 percent of the offensive snaps last season. Reid has been clear that McCoy is the number one, feature back in this offense, which doesn’t leave much room for Bush to shine.Bush knows his reputation as a “draft bust” is out there, and will want to go somewhere to shine, not play second fiddle. He could stay in New Orleans if he wanted to that (if they’d keep him).
Andy Reid and Marty Morningweigh are great at featuring players, and it would be interesing to see what they could do with a multi-talent weapon like Bush. But Bush is one of those players who are good at a lot of things, but not great at any. Its hard to imagine the Eagles winning out a bidding war between multiple teams, which it looks like they would have to do to land the former USC Trojan. The Eagles have other holes to fill with their money, and would be foolish to invest big money in Bush.
